a5c7b9f00b The chaotic aftermath of an alien attack has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survivalcitizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force. The series tells the story of the aftermath of a global invasion by several races of extraterrestrials that neutralizes the world&#39;s power grid and technology, quickly destroys the combined militaries of all the world&#39;s countries, and apparently kills over 90% of the human population within a few days. I haven&#39;t looked… but I imagine in some part the writers or FX guys are the same ones from the Battlestar Galactica show. The story is essentially the same except on the ground. It&#39;s what all of those episodes were of the resistance fighting on Caprica was like but a more human focus and more in depth.<br/><br/>I&#39;ve gotten through half of the second season. The whole addition of &quot;Charleston&quot;a sort of refuge reminds me of Earth from the BG series. That end goal point of safety and security. Where everyones hopes and dreams will be fulfilled. I have to wonder if in the end it wont quite work out like BG.<br/><br/>Don&#39;t kid yourself… this is a drama, through and through. It&#39;s not an action show, suspense, thriller, or anything else. It&#39;s all about the drama of the humans trying desperately to survive and the aliens in their struggleswell (which is brought out in the second season).<br/><br/>I&#39;m loving each episode. The beginning was everything you wanted it to be. Had great pace, I truly can&#39;t say how well they intertwined story development with action. You felt for the characters and they did a good job developing each one. The special affects are great (we&#39;re not talking about a SYFY original here) but with a 2.5 million budget per episode it better be good, and the plot wasgoodany other post apocalyptic story line. <br/><br/>Seasons 1-2 are up there with great TV shows, however, after season 2 you felt the grind of the same characters with the same issues and there were not enough fresh faces to keep it alive. The plot through season 3-4 is kept alive by TNT&#39;s desire to make more money and not much else. By the time season 5 rolls around you can tell that they knew they were going to be canceled so they try to wrap everything up in the final episodes (which they honestly should have only had 4 seasons with the fourth season being devoted to the climax) <br/><br/>I&#39;m OK with the default post apocalyptic story lines, but what I&#39;m not OK with is when you try to reuse the same ones multiple times throughout the series. There were some character conflicts that were kept alive for too long and Pope (after awhile) has to be one of the most annoying characters and Mason was pretty unbearable towards the endwell. Who really did well were the kids of the show. They acted extremely well, and you felt a youth like empathy for them. <br/><br/>I would honestly recommend this show, however, I would warn you, it&#39;s a marathon, on a track and much like a marathon on a track, you start off loving it, and towards the end everything starts looking the same and you don&#39;t even want to finish it but you&#39;ve already gone this far so you mightwell.
